Vacations, Hurricane Irma & some more…

I have been off-grid for too long now, this is mostly due to the fact that I went on a mini vacation and then with Hurricane Irma upon us, I lost my internet service all together. So, there you have it folks! I’m ok, just been having some fun and then some quiet, internet-less time.

I want to say that I am truly devastated about what happened in our neighboring islands Antigua & Barbuda, St. Marteen and all other affected by hurricane Irma. I found this website called Global Giving: Hurricane Irma Relief Fund and I copy: “Hurricane Irma is one of the strongest storms ever measured in the Atlantic and may cause caused catastrophic damage. This fund will provide relief to survivors in the form of emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine in addition to longer-term recovery assistance to help residents recover and rebuild. All donations to this fund will exclusively support any necessary relief and recovery efforts from this storm in the US and Caribbean.”, please help in any way you can, if you can’t donate money, you can share the link and if you have any other information as to how we can help the affected please share the information with me so that I can update this post.

I was on vacation and came back home exactly two days before the hurricane entered Puerto Rico, thankfully nothing major happened here, I’m located on the south west and literally and again, thankfully, nothing happened. I still prepared for the worst which is what I think everyone should do and will definitely be posting some very useful tips for future emergencies like this one. I got so many questions regarding breast milk storage when there is no electricity and about how to express breast milk manually, it doesn’t hurt to have a back-up plan for situations like this one.

Irma is now headed towards the United States and I have been sending positive vibes to my friends and family in Florida, the infrastructure there will be no match for a hurricane of this magnitude. Please keep all Floridians in your thoughts.

Now on a happier note… I went on vacation, YAY! and not only that, but I managed to check off some goals off my 101 goals in 1,001 days list. The vacation wasn’t really planned, but I’m glad it happened like that. I was able to spend some very much wanted and needed alone time with Lucas. It was just us for a couple days, then my husband joined us. I’m not gonna lie, I was kind of scared at first because well, I’m pregnant and get really tired and being alone with Lucas (a super active two year old) meant that I’d probably be even more tired, but I managed and I also found a new, DEEP, admiration for single moms parents everywhere. Our activities included some hiking in El Yunque Rainforest, a visit to El Museo del Niño in Carolina, a trip to El Parque del Indio in Condado, I took him to see the horse races at el Hipódromo Camarero in Canóvanas, some play time at Chuck E. Cheese’s, a stroll in Old San Juan and last but not least a birthday party at El Parque Luis Muñoz Marín in San Juan.

I’ll be posting individually about my goals and on the meantime I’ll leave you with a picture of how we looked throughout most of the week. Yes, babywearing saved my life once again!
